“Born Again” Is An Irresistible First Taste to Johnny Ashby’s Upcoming EP

If you could add a soundtrack to the moment of clarity a character finds in a movie, “Born Again”, the new single from Los Angeles based British singer/songwriter Johnny Ashby would be it. With the likes of Donovan Woods, Vance Joy, and Kings of Leon, Johnny Ashby produces raspy vocals that float on the airy, soaring feeling of the track. From guitar strings and chilling vocals kicking off the track, “Born Again” immediately captures an indie Americana feel with a nostalgic, hopeful feeling. With a constant build to a freeing chorus, with the lyrics “how could a love like this slip out our fingertips”, Ashby touches on something magical in the poignant lyrics that swirl around the atmospheric sound he has created.

As Ashby sings, “there’s beauty in the changing”, “Born Again” gives you the feeling of when leaves change colors in the fall, that as there are new beginnings and stark endings and as things come and come undone, there’s always a hope to rediscover yourself and start fresh. Ashby’s hope is that through this music he can inspire his audience to take a step outside their comfort zone and have the strength and courage to start again. About second chances and renewal, “Born Again”, the title track off of Ashby’s upcoming EP is a perfect first taste of what’s to come. The upcoming EP is co-written and produced with friends from the band Grizfolk, who have opened for artists like Bastille and X-Ambassadors.

With multiple performances at the legendary Troubadour in LA, as well as having his music featured in many television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Rise and Elementary, Ashby’s music fills the space between reality and the future. From finding a love for music in his dad’s mixtapes to playing guitar in college bands, Johnny Ashby has carved out a lane in music for himself with “Born Again” that’s irresistible to fall into.
